Kavestorm, known as Tilly, and I started our journey 4 years ago and we’ve had a wild ride, she’s had a splint, and a fractured pedal bone but has recovered from both, she’s got a rug phobia but I’ve solved that with a special rug and now she’s out all the time.
I'm not a brave rider and this little mare has taught me so much about how to ride and out hacking is honestly the most genuine little mare. I’ve ride and led my daughter up until she didn’t need it, now in an open field My kid and her pony and go cantering off and she’ll trot behind. She will do a lovely preliminary dressage test and jump a course of 60/70 never looking or stopping, I’ve done 3 camps on her and she’s awesome but can be whizzy. But all 4 feet stay on the ground always and she stops when asked.
She would take time to settle and doesn’t like being on her own, but I can leave her in a stable whilst we ride the pony and she’s fine.
So why am I moving her on? Unfortunately Tilly struggles with mares (she gets overly attached and the vet believes she is displaying dominant behaviour) which makes her silly and results in her getting very unsettled. Unfortunately I can’t and don’t have the facilities to protect her from this, this makes her stressed although I still ride her she’s just unsettled on the ground and I have children.
Tilly’s ideal would be a hacking home with a stable buddy where she was the main one who went off etc. She really is a lovely mare and a massive heart and I owe her a lot she’s built my confidence massively, and if I could have her in my garden with a little gelding companion she would be so happy. But I’m not in that position and after 4 years I just feel I need to focus on my daughter and her ponies.
She is only available on loan as I need to make sure she is in the right home.
