Miss Geronimo is an attractive mare who is now ready to find her forever home and partner to continue her education.
She has slowly been retrained, involving lots of ground work, pole work, hacking and occasional jump. She has been taken to my trainer’s premises for lessons and has also been XC schooling. All of which she has taken in her stride and has been a pleasure to take out.
She has no vices but does have a tendency to nap which just involves planting and not wanting to go forward but this has greatly improved and I have worked really hard at hacking her out alone. She is good in company but doesn’t like other horses coming too close to her. I really have got to know this mare and since owning her she has become physically stronger but does still lack confidence hence the napping. However her confidence has greatly improved and with time and the right rider will be sure to become a lovely low level allrounder.
Not a mare that needs to work everyday as does not become silly or fizzy even if not worked for a few days. But does needs a confident, patient and sympathetic rider as she is certainly not a mare who can be bullied.
I have transitioned her to barefoot since Sept 20 and is ridden in boots, so again will need time, patience and an equine podiatrist to continue.
Unfortunately, she has been diagnosed with kissing spine and sclerosis of the SI which has vastly improved with medication and will likely need continuing. My vet has advised that the best thing for her is keep her in low level work. She is however a lovely mover and has clean hocks and limbs but will be limited to hacking, low level dressage and jumping.
Very sad decision to sell but I would like to progress further in eventing.
5 * home really important as this mare really deserves a lifelong partner who in return will give much pleasure.
Serious enquiries only and experience of ex racehorses essential. I will be asking potential buyers to send me videos of them riding before I allow anyone to ride her.
