Rickenbacker (IRE)
16hh | 6yo bay gelding | Irish Thoroughbred
I'm honestly gutted to be writing this but I need to do right by Gibby. I'll start by saying Gibby is THE most loving horse when he gets to know you. He loves kisses and cuddles and always greets you.
I have had Gibby 3 years, he raced 10 times before retiring sound to me. He was brought with dreams to event, unfortunately, he has proven that he is not going to be a competition horse with me. Under pressure he seems to crack, he will do a dressage test but when jumping courses at a show with pressure, he will plant and reverse. He will jump anything you put in front of him at home, he is a lovely snaffle mouth when jumping - he gives you the most incredible feeling and his schooling is coming on massively.
He is sensitive in the mouth and doesn't like being held tightly. He isn't hot in anyway and really enjoys his hacking. He has cross country schooled, and was a superstar though unsure about water. Gibby has shown at a low level and is a lovely boy. He does well in a class with other horses, with many comments about how much of a lovely stamp he is. Has been to dressage twice this month scoring 62% in his first prelim and high 60s in only his third test. He moves beautifully and naturally bends.
Gibs doesn't appreciate hard pressure (eg, being smacked with a jumping stick into a fence) and really thrives off voice / praise.
I am NOT selling Gibs as a competition horse for someone wanting to compete regularly out showjumping / eventing. He will do a test, though he is definitely anxious in warm up but seems to settle. He would really suit a low level riding club home that doesn't want to push him hard, he does like his work at home and is a pleasure to have around, he loves to hack and is easy to pull up from a gallop.
He will only go to a 5 star home, I'm in no rush to sell him - it must be the right home for him. He's my pride and joy and he's been such a lovely horse to work with. Absolutely no dealers, he deserves to be someone else's pride and joy. Up to date with everything, he is currently fully shod but has been in only fronts before.
I will consider a full loan to stay on the yard he's on in Shifnal, with indoor/outdoor school and good hacking.
